CNN —Republicans are enraged that their safe space was punctured at the second GOP debate by a Univision anchor. After welcoming viewers in Spanish (the debate was simulcast on Univision), Calderón queried the Republicans through the night on weighty issues related to immigration, hate crimes, health care, and more. But unlike what is typical on Fox News, Calderón declined to frame her questions in a manner favorable for the Republican candidates. “The Univision anchor’s questions seem to come from the comments section of Salon and Vox,” talk radio host Buck Sexton said. “I think the Univision lady thinks she’s at a Democratic Debate,” Fox News commenter Tomi Lahren added.

The governor was also asked if he believed the next Republican president should look at pardoning defendants charged in relation to the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the U.S. Capitol. The governor filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday and then confirmed his candidacy in a live Twitter discussion with Elon Musk that was plagued with technical difficulties. Trump is the clear front-runner in most polls of the Republican primary, with DeSantis his closest competitor. "Conservative podcasters were 11 times more likely than liberal podcasters to share claims fact-checked as false or unsubstantiated," the study said. Fifty-six of the podcasters reviewed shared false or unsubstantiated claims at some point, the study found. In total, more than 70% of the podcasts reviewed shared false claims at some point, including those described as "liberal," "moderate," or "unknown." The study noted that it included far more conservative podcasts in its sample as a result of choosing those that are most popular on Apple Podcasts. The sheer rate of production adds to the issue, it said, with conservative podcasters making longer and more frequent episodes.
Mike Pence spoke out against Putin "apologists" and the growing populism in the GOP on Wednesday. Several Republicans have either supported Putin or dismissed the war he's waged against Ukraine. Pence also criticized the group of Republicans who have defended Russia's war in Ukraine or dismissed it by arguing the US should stay out of foreign affairs. "As Russia continues its unconscionable war of aggression to Ukraine, I believe that conservatives must make it clear that Putin must stop and Putin will pay," he added. "There can be no room in the conservative movement for apologists to Putin.
